Welcome to the travel section!

My first exposure to travel was thanks to golf and I would have to say now its something I greatly enjoy. Without golf I feel I would not have got the chance to see and travel to the places I have been.

Its fitting therefore that the man who invited me to play my first overseas pro-am is our web-site travel partner Sean Skehan and Killester Travel.

Along with Sean and the team we provide trips to different destinations for golf and instructional schools combined (see testimonies).

Its my pleasure therefore to introduce to you Killester Travel and Sean Skehans world of golf.

“David and I have been friends for many years now and I am delighted with our association as golf travel partners. The overseas golf instruction trips combine great golf, instruction and travel.

Enjoy your travels,
Sean Skehan

La Cala trip

June 2007

Seven keen golfers and I headed to the La Cala resort on the Costa del Sol for 5 days of intensive golf and training. No slouching here! Golf in the morning and golf schools from 3-6pm in the afternoon.

For this purpose La Cala is the ideal destination. Being on site and not having to drive or take transfers is ideal when there aren’t enough hours in the day to hit shots. A sample day, perhaps will explain our schools better:

7:45am    Breakfast

8:30am    Warm-up on putting green/practice net

9:00am    Tee-off in fours with pro changing after 9 holes

1:30pm    Lunch

3:00pm    Golf school at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy

6:00pm    Finish

7:30pm    Mental game discussion/recording of game statistics in the conference room

8:00pm    Dinner

La Cala has three courses to offer, the Europa, Asia and America with each presenting a different challenge; we played all three in rotation. The short game area was reserved exclusively for our use. Irish general manager Denis Foley and Anna Nyblom could not do more for us in ensuring us a great stay.

Highs: One stop shop means no commuting from 1pm arrival on Tuesday to 5pm departure on Sat

Lows: Hilly golf courses make cart hire almost essential which is off-putting if like me you enjoy walking
