   Putting

A game within a game is what is has often been called....and it most certainly is.

I firmly believe in 5 years time that there will be many full time putting coaches available for tuition. There are a few at the moment and I have been lucky enough to spend some time with them. Their passion for putting is quite remarkable!

Lets look at some of the impact factors and relate them to putting:

Meet SAM!!

So, have we a way to measure all of the above? Now we do.
The SAM putt lab gives us direct feedback on our putting strokes by linking the putter to a laptop and giving immediate feed back so we can alter our methods and improve our consistency.

We can keep data and re check impact factors at a later stage to gauge progression.

Green Reading

Assuming we have obeyed all the information on the impact factors and have struck a perfect putt, we will hole everything? Maybe not!
It largely can depend on a couple of things;

  1. Sometimes the greens can cause the ball to bump and move off line.
  2. We may not have read the green properly.

Theres not much we can do about the condition of the greens as we play but we can improve our green reading skills.

A great place to start is to go to the lowest part of the green and from there you will have a great view to see any type of movement there might be.

Always read your putts depending on what speed the ball will be travelling at;

Slow putts will be hit harder with less break/Fast putts slower taking more break.

And this is just what putting is;
“Combining the speed and line to hear that most pleasant of sounds as the ball hits the bottom of the cup”
